Young Tiger wins Photo of the Year

The Mangrove Action project tries to protect these threatenet ecosystem. It just announced the winners of the 9th Mangrove Photography Awards which should raise awareness of the poeple and wildlife that rely on mangrove forests.

They selected the winning photographies from over 2000 entries from 72 nations. This years winner is Soham Bhattacharyya with his image “Finest Flower of the Mangroves”, a young, endangered tiger that gazes curiously at the camera. The picture was taken in the Sundarbans Biosphere Reserve in West Bengal, India.

The Mangrove Action Project writes that today, less than half of the world’s mangrove forest cover remains. “It has never been more important to promote the conservation of these fragile ecosystems”, it states. The Photography Award is a vital platform for creatives to captivate our imagination and spark actions.
